The parade theme for 2010 is "I Want to Be...". Take this summer to prepare for the 53rd Annual Maple Leaf Festival Parade!
The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. Formation for the parade begins at 9:00 a.m. at the East edge of Baldwin City near the corner of U.S. 56 Hwy and High Street. The parking lot next to Baker University Stadium, corner of First and Freemont streets may be used to unload equipment. Information about your entry is announced as you pass the reviewing stand during the parade and should be attached to or written on the parade entry form.
Arrive NO LATER THAN 10:30 a.m. to be included in the parade.
For those of you interested in entering the float division of the parade, we are awarding the following prizes to floats that follow the theme:
- $200.00 for First place
- $150.00 for Second place
- $100.00 for Third place
- $50.00 for Fourth place
If you wish to enter the float competition, please check the box on your entry form. Preliminary float judging occurs between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Final judging is done from the reviewing stand during the parade. Non-competitive floats are also welcome to our parade. Please prepare signs identifying your entry (name of organization, home town, slogan/motto, etc.) and display them on front or on both sides of your entry so parade spectators can readily identify your float.
Please note: for safety reasons we ask that there be no throwing candy, gum or other items from our parade entries. This is a family orientated event. Any parade entry considered inappropriate by the parade officials will not be included in the parade. Parade participants are expected to behave in a manner which is non-threatening to parade viewers, especially young children.
Horse Entries
Horse and Horse Drawn entries should unload on East High Street, north of US 56 Highway. Formation of horses will be north of US 56 Highway and moves west on High Street at 10:45 a.m.
Parade entries are to be received no later than October 7, 2010.
